LA Temple

Okay, I so don't want this picture first, but whatever. It is so here is proof that I was there. Wearing a shirt I formally thought was cute until I photographed pregnant (which I am not). Shame on you sneaky shirt.

Are these pictures cute or what?

Saturday we were going to try something new. Instead of getting a babysitter (which we were already getting for dinner) we were going to take the kids all down to the temple and then take turns going in. Well due to a major incident in the day, that planned died, but we still went and walked around. That counts for something right?

Seriously I love these pictures. No bows or planned outfits, or hair done, but whatever.

Darby is so cute. Wonder if this little girl will get married here one day?

When does Luke put his arm around his sister for pictures?

Okay so here is the scoop. The visitors center at the temple is now open. The LA temple is on Santa Monica (just look for the large building with largest lawn in the whole city...besides golf courses maybe?).

The visitors center was awesome. We were there for about an hour and didn't even see everything. So many touch screens for everyone to play with. So many rooms and different aspects they focus on. Pretty much the best place if you want to know what the Mormon church is up to. Make sure you block out a chunk of time to go there, there is soo much stuff to do and see. The most current technology, more stuff in there than I could think of, just go.

One of my favorites was that they had pictures of the inside of the Los Angeles temple right there. Most of you know only Mormon members with current temple recommends (meaning they have been interviewed by their leaders to make sure they are worthy ie: no drinking, honesty, etc...) but in the visitors center they have pictures of the actual rooms and explanations for what goes on there. So I could show my kids what mom and dad do when we go there. Usually when you see pictures of inside of LDS temples they will be like an example of a room in a temple who knows where, but these are pictures of that huge building right across the parking lot!

Another favorite was how they quoted Matthew 25:32-33 "For I was hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in. Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me..." and they had like 5 flat screens where you could watch a short video about what the church was doing with humanitarian aid across the world.

So it had this huge picture of a man in a well in Africa, with the words above it "I was thirsty..." and then you saw how the church has built all these wells in Africa to get clean water... So for " I was sick, and ye visited me" there was a large picture of wheelchairs (with an actual wheelchair there for the kids to climb on) and the video was how the church donated all these wheelchairs to third world countries and how they paved a wheelchair ramp for a single mom and her disabled daughters and on and on and on. It was really cool. Just made me very proud to be apart of something so special.

The church is true. Read the Book of Mormon. With an open heart, it will change your life. It goes hand in hand with the teachings of the Bible. Christ is the head of the restored church on the earth. Its amazing. We have a lot in common with the rest of the Christian world, more than you think. We are all brothers in sisters. Everyone.
