Room Makeover

Ahhh...how cute. Here is the family in Arizona for Alex's baptism.

Cute cousins

I hate my down stairs room. Its the only room we didn't get to when we moved in, its always a disaster and we spend a lot of time there.

I have been making recent changes, but they weren't working. i put the hooks up for backpacks, have had consults from Misty about what to do and painted the bathroom.

But the space wasn't working. So while my family was away, I had grand ambitions. In this rooms defense, Jason had pulled the desk and tv away from the wall to get ready for me to paint when I took this picture.

Are you ready to see what it looks like now?

Do you like those room makeover shows?

Cause I love them.

Seriously. My kids have watched them with me before.

So I was hoping that when they came home from their trip it would be like those shows.

Well they came home....tired and grumpy.

So maybe not quite the applause I was hoping for.

Wouldn't that be so fun to do have that happen?

since I live in LA, I actually have had two friends who have had it done.

So I was imagining this grand entrance, but not so much.

So my neighbor came over instead and ooh-ed and aww-ed for me.

Poor Jason had a rough car ride home. But later he said he liked it.

Okay, I'm so excited.

It was a lot of work.

But now when I look down the stairs I am happy.

Taaa- DAAAAA!!!!

Imagine a mantle on the fireplace that Jason has promised me. With decorative items (or a bright yellow mirror) on it as well. Now, get on that mantle Jason, I'm an antsy woman.

Seriously love it. I don't know if you can grasp the change unless you felt what it was like to be in it before. But so much better.

Of course there were a couple of things I wanted to do and still wanted to, but at some point you are tired and run out of money and time.

Funny but my sisters wedding colors ended up being my inspiration for the accent color.

Its so cozy. Especially at nite. I have a basket for toys that I know will be brought down. But I'm hoping that my family will treat it better now that it looks better. I swear its much cuter in person. My pictures don't do it justice.

Most important is it went from being the worst room to my favorite room. Yay!

Come over (with advance warning) and I'll give you a tour!!!

By the way. My soon to be sister in law is in Haiti right now. She is pretty amazing to be doing something so selfless a month before her wedding when most people would be focused on themselves. Her and Garlan are a great match. Its definitely different hearing what its like from someone I know as opposed to watching it on the news...Amanda has gone there yearly before the major earthquake as a volunteer nurse. We are praying that she comes home safe!

If I were there I would jump up and down and clap. It is darling. Just absolutely darling! You are amazing. I love the yellow. I wish I were there to lay down and take a nap. I love the tiffanyish colored walls. The hooks are cute. Good Job. FYI: the yellow is so happy. I will keep my eyes pilled for a huge yellow mirror:-)

D: I'm not much of an interior designer (D- at BYU) and usually don't notice things like that, but I have to admit the before and after look pretty awesome. I'm impressed...really. Man, I hope someday we can have a house to do whatever we want to!
