Sad and Happy News

President Gordon B. Hinckley died tonite.

I just found out. I am sad. I will miss him. But I'm so happy for him to be reunited with his wife. And for him to be finished with the work here on earth. President Hinckley was 97 years old. For my two non-lds readers, he was current the prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The coolest man. My heart was warm and full of the spirit (what tells you when you hear something true) when I heard him speak. So full of love and caring for everyone in the world. Here is one quote by him. "I plead with our people everywhere to live with respect and appreciation for those not of our faith. ... We live in a world of diversity. We can and must be respectful toward those with whose teachings we may not agree..."

Here is one of the talks he gave at the most recent general conference in October 2007.

We just heard him speak via satellite at our stake (surrounding area) conference. It was broadcast to all of southern California. He spoke on marriage. In the last hour we have been getting calls from our good friends and family sharing the news. We are in shock, but not really since he was so old, but he was the prophet for 13 years.

Its cool we know who will be the next prophet (Thomas S. Monson who is amazing), but President Hinckley will be missed...by me.

Wow, I am saddened. I could feel the spirit everytime I read or heard his voice. He's been the only prophet I really "knew" because the rest I never listened to as a bad child. I too am happy that he's reunited with his wife. Maybe my mom's meeting him:)

I will miss him too and I also hope my mom gets to meet him, and my sister and my grandad and my grandma and my other grandad and my aunts...

He will be greatly missed here on earth, but just imagine the welcome he received in heaven.

Dido! He was so great. Remember the 6 B's. I was trying to remember them today and was not remembering them so well. I could only remember 4. I think it is amazing how he was still giving talks the last month he died. What a worker. Great Post!!
