I am a Witch Doctor

I have crossed to the other side ;)  within reason of course.

I have been invited to so many essential oil parties and never give them another thought.

Until Baylie and Darby both had ear aches and I wanted to take them in to get them looked at.  But my copay is $40 and if I went and they had it than I would pay $80.  Or I would go and pay $80 and then they would say it was a viral.  So I called Jason and he said not to go.  So I cried.  Cause I was mad that it would be $80 just to look in their ears and mad that it was about money and mad cause the girls were upset and I felt helpless.

So I just remembered my friend Jenna G had started doing oils and texted her quick and she came over gave me some samples to last through the next couple of days and I was hooked.  The girls ear pain went away (although at first they thought their mom was a kook rubbing stuff on their feet).

So I'm on the natural medicine band wagon!  Who would have thunk?

Mostly I needed a major immune boost since I've been on immune supressants for nearly 11 years from my rheumatoid arthritis.  I am always sick.  I have taken vitamins and emergenC and whatever else I could come up with and done the dang gross netty pot too many times.   I have found that OnGuard and drops of Lemon keep sickness away from me, especially when I feel it starting to come on.

Take that stupid healthcare system thats a total rip off!  Here is to being empowered and feeling like I can actually help my children....cause I got a lot of them.  And we can go through Dimetapp and Tylenol and Motrin bottle by bottle.

Here is to being a bit healthier in 2014.  Plant based medicines can enter the cell barrier to help virus that synthetics cannot.  I do not want to become desensitized to antibiotics.  DoTerra Essential Oils are the ones I'm hooked on and love the high quality, like the company.

Here would be my tips.

I started out with the family pack (and I love that the expiration is like ten years to never where I always am finding expired bottles in my medicine cabinet)  If you just want to use it as 'food storage' than that would be fine, but if you are actually using them, go for the bigger bottles cause I ran out fast.  But hey, at least it got me started so whatever.

Stay away from your eyes!  If you add water it intensifies so must be diluted with another oil like olive oil or coconut oil.  I rubbed some stuff on my temples and then rubbed my eyes and wowzer!  Sting!  Lasted only five minutes but glad to know what it felt like so I wouldn't do it to my kids.

Here are my favorites:

Lemon in my water.  (1 drop of oil is equivalent to like 27 cups of herbal tea).
Lemon when I feel a sore throat or any ickies coming on.
OnGuard every day...sometimes a few times a day if I feel like I've been on a bunch of germs (the beadlets are my favorite).
Lavendar and Peppermint on my neck for a headache.  If that doesn't kick it I take some regular meds, but I try that first and greatly reduced my pill poppping, which you know I'm good at!
Lavendar in a bath.  So good for my mental health
I take the DoTerra vitamins too for good measure.  I got a them with a special promotion thing
Lavendar for skin reactions to soothe (like kids scrapes)
OnGuard on kids feet for cootie killing (dude DoTerra should hire me to write their brochures I swear!)
Peppermint for an upset stomach
DigestZen for tummy troubles too.
Breathe under my nose and on chest (and then I take a shower, cause remember the water thing...makes it stronger which is good with a cold!).  I really love Vicks and think you could still just use Vicks just this is healthier
Oh yes, diffusing Wild Orange and OnGuard in the air.  Kids love to smell Wild Orange while doing homework and whatever can take the sting out of homework I will take!
Wild Orange on the wrist for a mid day mood boost or put a drop on your hands and cup to your nose and breathe.

Those are the most used.  All the rest for me are on an as needed basis.   I have a big hippie book where you look up the ailment and then tells what oil to use.  Its great I feel very granola :)  With my red lipstick on.

The oils when you breathe, ingest (not all can be ingested) and smell go directly into your bloodstream faster than regular medicine, which I have stopped buying.  Also you could be taking an oil for one symptom or ailment and then it will help out with other things at the same time.  So more effective and less harmful.

I did buy a diffuser which was expensive but got a group deal on.  I would say if I had one of those big kitchen islands or more counter space I would love it more cause we are little cramped from room but do use it when necessary or like 1 or 2 a week.

This is from the DoTerra website:

Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. They can be both beautifully and powerfully fragrant. If you have ever enjoyed the gift of a rose, a walk by a field of lavender, or the smell of fresh cut mint, you have experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. In addition to giving plants their distinctive smells, essential oils provide plants with protection against predators and disease and play a role in plant pollination.
Essential oils are non water-based phytochemicals made up of volatile aromatic compounds. Although they are fat soluble, they do not include fatty lipids or acids found in vegetable and animal oils. Essential oils are very clean, almost crisp, to the touch and are immediately absorbed by the skin. Pure, unadulterated essential oils are translucent and range in color from crystal clear to deep blue.
Try this at home: Squeeze the peel of a ripe orange. The fragrant residue on your hand is full of essential oils.
In addition to their intrinsic benefits to plants and being beautifully fragrant to people, essential oils have been used throughout history in many cultures for their medicinal and therapeutic benefits. Modern scientific study and trends toward more holistic approaches to wellness are driving a revival and new discovery of essential oil health applications.
dōTERRA CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® essential oils represent the safest, purest, and most beneficial essential oils available today. They are gently and skillfully distilled from plants that have been patiently harvested at the perfect moment by experienced growers from around the world for ideal extract composition and efficacy. Experienced essential oil users will immediately recognize the superior quality standard for naturally safe, purely effective therapeutic-grade dōTERRA essential oils.
Got any questions?  Got any tips for me if you use them?  So many people I know already used them!

I do a monthly deal where I get a free oil if I am a frequent member but can stop any time.  I call Jenna with any questions and kinda play around to see what works for me cause everyone is different.  If I were to start with any I would go with Peppermint, Lavendar, Lemon, and Onguard...the big bottles.

What I have also found is that there are all kinds of oil people and I would be in my mind mild to moderate?  I still think you should get stitches if you need stitches and I haven't stopped taking my shots.  But for the day to day sicknesses and trying to control the amounts of over the counter stuff we were taking, I really like DoTerra for that.  We shall see.  Its only been two months.  And show me your stitches before you go to make sure you really need them :)

Here is Jenna's blog too...Essentialoilsmommy

Love the title! My only experience with them is Courtney put some on Gracie to help her with her cough and I ended up having an asthma attack on the smell & couldn't hold her : ( Dumb lungs. Courtney really likes the oils though.

I've seen several people post about using oils. Like Nancy, I'm afraid they might aggravate my allergies. I like citrus scents, but most floral scented stuff drives my allergies crazy.

I've lived on lavender and peppermint for headaches and stress these last few months. Good stuff. I know several people that are major users ... and I feel that I'm headed down the road to full hippie-dom before much longer. :)

I think the quality of the oil affects whether or not asthma would act up. definitely more benefits than not. mom you should try it and try and banish those antibiotics too!

My neighbor in Utah is a rep for DoTerra. I haven't tried yet but I probably will at some point. We don't get sick often. A friend here uses them though and loves that company. She has fibromyalgia.

Good to get a recent joined user's opinion - you may have swayed me to try it out sometime. I'll have to check into breastfeeding and how old a baby needs to be probably, but I'd take these since I can't do much meds now - thanks for your thoughts!
