Squash and Passed Out

The snails did not win and we have a spaghetti squash! We planted about 8 seeds and only one plant took so far only one squash picked. We've had lots of flowers, and my girls are on pick off snail duty, but they still creep in. Plus the leaves hurt! Grown from the seeds from the spaghetti squash we bought at Walmart.

Now this is a funny thing. Here is a picture of Jason at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Passed out on the floor in the entryway. He told me he was playing with Paisley and fell asleep (she just crawled away). What an odd place to nap. Jason had a bunch of church meetings so he missed our traditional afternoon nap, but dang it he was determined to squeeze it in!

One a side note, I'm feeling like the only person who doesn't have their kid enrolled in soccer or some team sport. Did I miss the memo? Guess we better get crackin next season.

Today is my dad and Claire's birthday. I always love 13th birthdays. They are lucky.

My husband would have killed me had I posted a picture like that...but, I loved it!!! Porter will do the same thing eventually.

Yes, sports are different now than what you were used to growing up. Back in the day, I felt like an outsider because I had been taking gymnastics since the age of two. Now, it's commonplace. At our gym in Alabama, we start classes as soon as they can walk. Scary, huh? But, in today's world...it's almost necessary.

Justin, my brother, was on a soccer TEAM at 4 years old. They practiced 3 days a week and had games on Saturdays. And, that was 15 years ago. Crazy, huh?

It's sad...but, Porter and I have already had these conversations. It's like you are sculpting the perfect child. Gymnastics classes as soon as he can walk to build coordination and upper body strength. The 1st organized sports they can play are soccer and t-ball...and that's at 4-years-old. But, they can swim before that. It's crazy...eventually, you feel overwhelmed.

Jude starts his music class next week and his gym class in 2 months. =)

That's a good looking squash, not that I would eat it. The picture of Jason is too funny. Poor guy must've been really tired.

Don't feel bad that your kids are playing organized sports. Most kids these days have too much going on. I think it's a lot of added stress. Bradley has football for 2 hours 3 nights a week, and they haven't even started playing games yet. If you get your kids involved in a bunch of extra stuff, they miss out on just spending time with the family. Your family is way to fun to miss out on.

I totally agree Heather. I definitely chose not too....
its just sometimes it seems that we are the only ones not doing it.

Sara, ya I am soo not like that.

We are not in any sports either so you are not the only ones. My kids have church and scouts on Wednesdays and we have FHE on Mondays and Thursdays are a big study and homework night. Lidia has a theater class on Friday afternoons. The boys just want to have some free time and play. That's busy enough. Family first!
Love the picture of Jason. Cory can fall asleep anywhere, not me.

That is seriously hilarious. I cannot believe he just passed out like that. Right in front of the door and everything. I'm dying laughing. What does he think of that picture I wonder? haha....

LOVE that picture of Jason. That is hilarious. So funny! Good job on the squash. You will have to give me some gardening tips when I start.

That was a great post title. And a darn good-looking squash! I can't grow a thing to save my life. We do have a lot of snails hanging around, though.

And I have Finn enrolled in exactly ZERO sports. He's decided to enlist on the Black Pearl as Captain Jack Sparrow's first mate. That should keep us plenty busy.
