Rituals

(How amazing that a not quite 3 year old whose birthday is on Easter can put on her own lipstick this well. )

My parents are arriving in about three hours and I am not ready. Like I have clothes on, but thats about it. No makeup (which is shocking I know), hair not done, house a mess, undressed baby, etc. I have showered so that is good.

So what am I doing, typing on the computer? Delaying all the work I have to do. Does denial really work?

And letting my trash can soak in soapy water before I scrub it.

I think it was Misty who told me, "People don't notice clean, they only notice dirty." What a shame.

I have been counting the days until they come and here it is my house is still messy. The last few days would require a swear word to describe them and due to my potentially younger readers (Sophie, just in case) I will omit them. But its been one of those couple of days. Like Becky told me, my blog is a lot more fun to read when the days have been crappy.

Dad will notice my trash cans. He won't care if I have my hair done. My dirty trash cans will confirm that I'm still the messy teenager he knew I was. I should add that is a very good dad and grandpa. Just very clean.

In a few days, my two sisters arrive with their families and this hasn't happened in three years. To make it even more of a party I ordered a bunch of jewelry from my good friend Mist, who sells it cheap and can't wait to see their faces! Seriously a ton of jewelry. We are going to be hot...wink wink. Like forever 21 coming to your house without you having to go their with your multiple kids and big honking stroller reminding everyone how far away from 21 you actually are.

Now back to work.

Okay, ten minutes later. One trash can down.

You could lick if you wanted to.

I'm sure your Dad will be soo happy to see you and those cute kids that he won't care if your house is clean. Have fun!

that is good of baylie/mini-you. Crazy her Bday is tomorrow. i can't believe you scrub your trash cans for the folks. i mean i scrub my trash cans, but it is only for personal sanity. you are cool Brooke. i mean we aren't robots, we make messes. no worries. can't believe you are hosting such a get together at your house. talk about getting use out of it. have fun, try not to be so stressed. sorry the last few days have been crummy. just think, soon your baby will get bigger, and theoretically you can get your kids to do more work, have a house full of chore-doers
: ) don't be so rough on yourself, take it easy. i am certain part of life is to have fun and enjoy it and be happy so don't forget about that part.
