Burnt Dinner Again

Nothing like making a girl be excited to be back home like burning the crap out of dinner. That and Jason worked really late so he was pooped. (Pooped in our family means very very tired. ) This time I had run to the store with the kids at 6 p.m. after having no car because my garage door clicker was in the pimp gray van in the garage...and on the way home right about when I was a block away, I remembered that I left the dinner in the oven!

Burnt to pieces. Truth is it was a hodge podge dinner due to an empty fridge and sort of made up chicken pot pie and that we did get to eat some of it. I decided to put pre-made biscuit dough on it for the topping cause i was too lazy to make a real crust, but when I got it out the oven the top of the biscuits was burned and the bottom have was gross goo....

SO, I gave the chicken pot pie inside stuff to the kids and the top halves of the biscuit, left the gooey bottoms in the dish to see if I could cook them up and put it back in the oven. Only to be forgotten until I was returning from the grocery store I remembered that I never took it out and now there were black 'rocks; in my nasty to begin with 'chicken pot pie'. I still haven't cleaned the dish cause I'm in denial about the whole thing.

Brooke,
Hey it's Brandi Granger Bartee. I found your blog thru Tara's and have totally enjoyed reading your funny stories. A hint for your dish: put a dryer sheet in the dish with hot water and let it soak for 30 minutes. The dryer sheet makes the stuff soften and you can clean your dish without scrubbing. I learned this trick on Oprah and it has worked every time. I have burned my fair share of dinners but it also helps after baking casseroles.

Oh Brooke, you are too much. I love your made up ckn pot pie mess. So funny. I can just see you remembering. And don't think I haven't had a moment or two of unadulterated rage/despair when MY friend Tivo wasn't doing his thing. (It's got to be male cuz a female gadget would know better!)
