Come over for Dinner

Would you please eat a burrito?

Nothing fancy. Beef, bean, and cheese. With taco seasoning. Cause dinner is just me and the kids...Jason gets home after dinner time. This is what it looked like after everyone had finished eating. And its sort of my fault because its so hard to get the timing just right. They have to be hungry, but if they are starving and dinner won't be finished for 20 minutes I'll give them a frozen gogurt (very common child food...yogurt in a tube, that they like frozen in the freezer) like I did today and then they will promise to still eat there dinner. BUT no eating the dinner of burritos. Normally I have good eaters or am better at planning the hunger level to time left cooking ratio. And I had homemade ranch...meaning from a ranch packet. And I would have smothered the burritos if I knew I'd have to eat them all, but thought they'd be easier to pick up un-smothered.

I'm seriously offended. Luke kept saying sorry mom. Like 3 times in the night. And no amount of 'You won't get dessert" could convince them to eat more. This was Darby's 'finished' plate. And lukes was just the same. And guess who is going to be eating burritos till I turn someting or other...the writer of this blog. The cooker of all food in the McCoy house. The supposedly master of finding the perfect eating time. And my mexican rice burnt. And I wish I had corn, but peas had to do. Ya know its hard to keep all the supplies you need on hand all the time. Since I am also queen of the pantry.

But I love these cherries. Courtesy of Costco. Lets think of something good. Cherries are my favorite fruit. We all love them. Even Baylie. Can 9 month olds have cherries? Jason is not so found of the cherries...like at all.

It looks delish. So hard to keep everything on hand! I never seem to have everything for a perfect meal. We were with ya last night on the bean burritos too. That's a once a weeker in our house for sure.

I'd reheat them for dinner tonight! No since in making more food when you have left overs.

Man! You are good at making balanced meals. That's awesome. You don't even want to know what I made Adam for dinner last night. I called it "Poor Man's Food."

wow, i am impressed w/ 3 side dishes! that is like 2 more than i usually make. i think cherries for 9 monthers is great - unless you forget to take out the pit.

Looks yummy to me too. I hear ya on the timing thing though. If I give the girls a snack anymore than an hour before dinner, that's it, they aren't hungry (until 5 minutes before bed that is. And by that time, I'm done. The kitchen is closed.)

mmmmm cherries
i miss the fresh fruit year round in california
my kids are pretty picky eaters and they come home from school starving so we have been having dinner at like 4:30 and just a snack before bedtime. i used to do it the other way but they wouldn't eat much dinner b/c of the snack.
