Try something new

I don't know why I"m posting a sweaty picture of myself, but here is from my first 10 K on Saturday. I was sure sore on Sunday. But isn't so fun doing something you've never done before. I couldn't believe I finished. Holy cow. All that early morning running paid off...although not on my butt, but I don't even care. Thanks to Sara for being my buddy and for Fergie from pumping me up at the end. Wahoo!

Sara...my early morning partner.

All our fans. Jason did the girls hair. Thanks for coming, it was hot.

The short people club. Four members so far. I remember my mom running as a kid, hopefully my kids will too. And although not attractive, I long those long spandex shorts I was wearing.

P.S. I think I was 113th out 151 or so... next time I'll work on my time. I'm slow and steady...right?

Not quite as airheaded as I thought

So...Tamara Fackrell called me. I was dying.

Turns out I had given her my phone number. I was shocked. She sounds so cute (so cute) on the phone and we really tried to arrange a meeting. She has six kids now. ...I think we would be great friends.

BUT she was staying 3 hours away and my mom just flew in from Alabama. After much debate and conflicting schedules, I didn't get to see Tamara and instead had a blast today with my mom, sister and all our kids. We are so tired and went to the Natural History Museum and saw the butterflies. One landed on Baylie's head. Then we let the kids play in the large rock garden, cut throw the rose garden and got KFC take-out.

Sad to miss you Tamara, we have a date set for summer 2009. I have my questions ready. And my book ready to be signed.

Why Jason is a great dad

Despite the poor camera-work, this is an amazing video of Jason's turn in our weekly family game of Simon Says. He is the most fun ...although Darby does give a great shot at it.

Although I try to avoid mushy gushy at all costs, or brag-husband-fests...Jason is due for one. How lucky I got when I married him...Jason is a great dad, much due to the fact when we first got married and lived in married student housing at BYU, we were one of two couples without kids (yes BYU is a strange place) and he told me he wasn't going to be a goober dad after watching a fair share of them. And he is no goober and is equal, no joke, in parenting to me, which is hard cause I'm dang good ;) And of course he was raised by a great dad himself. He makes our house much more fun. Feel free to try his moves at home.

And I have his permission to show his fancy footwork.
