Luke the Artist

This is what my boy brings home from school. Seven of these are from one day. He handed me six more pictures similar to these from today. He said its because he gets to color when he gets his work finished. They are all to Mom or Dad or Mom and Dad. A house with his family. Blue sky and green grass. I don't know what to do with all of them. But I love that is he is always thinking of us. Maybe his teacher needs to give him more work :) Not really, work should not be for kindergarten. Just play.

The other day I found a picture with just grass and a flower. I said, "Wow, Luke you haven't done a flower like this before." He said, "That's not mine'. I flipped it over and the back said, "I love you" with hearts. Left in his locker by he thinks Diana. He ripped it up. No love notes to Luke, he does not appreciate them. Unless they are from his mom in his lunch.

Tonite I looked at him while we were on the couch and I can feel that these moments are fleeting. When are you going to be taller than me and shaving? I hope you always want your mom to sit right next to you. And then I told his dad about how Luke generously sprinkled pepper on the chocolate chip cookies Darby and I made today. All sixteen that we had left. Or how he drank the milk out of the jug and was lapping up the rest from his cup like a dog. Yes, my sweet boy these moments won't last forever. So give me that big hug. And I'll try to remember that you are always crabby when you get home from school and just let you run.

Our little McCoy family. As pictured by my Luke. He just learned out to play 'grab the bacon' at school. Do you remember that game. Is it more PC to say 'grab' than 'steal'?

And on a more random note that might seem really gross.

How much do you value your sleep?

Would you give your one year old a roll after you get her up from her crib to bribe her into sitting quietly in your bed for a few more minutes. Even if you had to clean up bits of bread in your sheets? Well, Jason started it, but this morning I was the guilty one. Gives me the shivers looking at all those crumbs. We are lazy bums.

Just don't do what my Mother did. She kept every piece of paper we ever made a mark on. We each had a box, and through the years the box grew to a bigger box. It was crazy.

that is so cute. I love the mass of pics, I am totally a live for the moment girl and clean a lot of extra messes because of it.

I feel the same way when Emma wakes up from her nap and gives me the biggest smile ever. Like she is soo excited to see me. I dread the day that smile isn't there.

I love this post. I love all of those pictures. I think it's awesome he always draws pictures of you guys and his home. And yes, I would totally bribe my child with a roll to sleep in my bed for a few more minutes - why do they have to get up so early!

Hey! I'm so glad you found me. Your blog is really cute. It's fun to read about how crazy you think your kids are. I have had those exact same thoughts lately. My youngest is getting to that age where people are asking if we are going to have another but he is so wild I just don't know about having another one yet. I see these well behaved, calm children and think "Why can't my kids be like that?" We do have a lot of fun though and they have some really sweet moments.

Yes. I would do most anything to get 1 more minute of ME time, even if it involved food in my bed. What can I say? I'm a selfish mom?
